Kannil Nin Meyyil - Tribute to P Padmarajan

Today I am presenting a song composed by Shri Perumbavoor G Raveendranath, who is also my Guru.He doesn't need any introduction to malayalam music lovers. His contributions to the light music world are matchless. He stepped into the world of film music by composing songs in 'Thoovananthumbikal' directed by Shri.Padmarajan.He started off with a couple of superb hits like 'Onnam Raagam Paadi' and 'Megham Poothu Thudangi'.Although there are very less number of films in his name, most of his compositions were super hits.Films like Innale, Sneham, Chitrashalabham, Alancheri Thambrakkal,Thandavam etc gave us some beautiful songs. I would say that Malayalam Film Industry has not done justice to this great musician. At times I think how many hits like 'Onnam Raagam Paadi' we might have missed out. Some of his brilliant compositons are 'Neela Nadiyude', 'Prapancha Manasa','Akhilum Chandanavum' when it comes to light music world. He has a very strong classical background and still work hard to learn new Krithis and teach strudents like me and lot of others. He has composed over 15000 songs in different categories such as Light Music,Devotional Songs,Film Songs etc. I have the privilege of being close to him as a student.I had the fortune to listen to his concerts at my native place during my school days and accompany him as support vocal in a few concerts being his student in the recent times. As a human being he is very humble and caring. There is a lot left in this genius.
The song I am presenting today is from the Film 'Innale'. This is directed by the great director Shri P.Padmarajan. In fact Padmarajan brought Perumbavoor into the world of film music. According to Perumbavoor Sir, Padmarajan was one of the directors who have given importance to the songs in his films and comfortable to work with. Innale is one of the greatest films that Malayalam film industry ever had. Padmarajan portrays the life and trauma of a beautiful girl who develops amnesia after a bus accident during a pilgrimage trip. Anyone who have seen this film will understnad the beauty of this composition. The mood change in anupallavi is just amazing in this song. Perumbavoor G Ravindranath was awarded the State Film Award for best music director for the songs in this film. K.S Chitra was awarded the Kerala State Fim award for the best play back singer. The other song in this film is 'Nee Vin Poo' which is done in 'Atana' raaga. I have tried my best to do justice to the original version.
