Raakkili Than - A different one from Perumazhakkalam

Today I am presenting another beautiful song of the recent times. This is a brilliant composition by M Jayachandran from the film Perumazhakkalam directed by Kamal. The song has a typical Hindustani touch in it's composition. The moment I heard this song, I could feel the fresh air of beautiful music in Malayalam film music after a long time. This song is originally sung by M.Jayachandran himself. The emotion that is given in the rendition is just outstanding. More over he himself has perfomed for the song in the film. The picturization blends well with the mood and lyrics of the song presenting us with a brilliant package of musical excellence. M Jayachandran was awarded the Kerala State Film Award for best music director for the songs in this film for the year 2004.
It was my prolonged wish to sing this song. I have tried my best to do justice to the wonderful rendition that M Jayachandran did for this song. I know I am far away from the original version. It would be very nice to hear back from all of you. I request all of you to leave a comment after hearing the songs.

At the Lotus Feet Of Lord Krishna - Kanna Vaa

Today I am presenting a bhajan on Lord Krishna. This bhajan is composed in the raaga Madhuvanti. This is a Janya raaga of the 59th Melakartha raaga 'Dharmavathi'. Dharmavathi and its janya raagas generally creates an amazing mood. I am very passionate about Dharmavathi and I love to hear it.
I heard this bhajan in the album 'Brindavan' by Bombay Jayashree. This is not a traditional bhajan and seems to be composed specifically for this album. S.Sabesh has done a fantastic job on composing the beautiful lyrics by Chitra Balraj. Ever since I heard this, I have been singing this in all my concerts. Another famous bhajan in Madhuvanthi is 'Krishna Karo'. I admit that there is still scope for improvement in the rendition.

Today I am going to present before you a song composed by one of the brilliant music directors of the young generation , Shri M Jayachandran. With his strong classical background, he has proved to be a versatile music director who can compose virtually any type of song. He is a brilliant singer too. Any music lover would love to hear his brilliant rendition 'Rakkili Than Vazhi Marayum' from the film Perumazhakkalam. He is the one of the main anchors of the popular show 'Ragotsavam' in 'Kairali Television' along with Kaavalam Srikumar.

The song is 'Kannu Nattu Kathirunnittum' from the film 'Kadhavasheshan' directed by T V Chandran. This is a great composition and anyone would like this song in the first place. The song stands out for it's simplicity and powerful expressions. This song definitely reminds us of the golden era of Malayalam music, especially M S Baburaj.

Shandana Thendralai - A Romantic Masterpiece

Today I am going to present before you a song composed by our own A R Rehman. Ever since we heard his first song from 'Roja', we have been receiving more and more hits from this amazing musician . He has revolutionised the world of film music by bringing in a whole new style and lots of wonderful singers. Each of his songs has something to cheer about. Because of his habit of introducing new talents, we discovered the gems like Hariharan, Unnikrishnan, Bombay Jayashree, Shankar Mahadevan to name a few.

The song is 'Shandana Thendralai' from the film 'Kandu Konden Kandu Konden'. I like this song for it's uniqueness and beauty of composition and it was my dream to be able to sing this song. One thing which I noticed after recording is that the track of the song is a bit faster than the original one. I am not sure if the emotion contained in the song has been affected by the tempo. But it has been a wonderful experience recording this song. I have to admit that there are some mistakes in the lyrics in one or two places. I never imagined presenting this song to such a wonderful audience when I recorded this song since it was recorded around one month back when I wasn't aware of the possibilities of blogging. I tried my best to do justice to the wonderful rendition that Shankar Mahadevan did for this song.

I am eagerly awaiting your response to my first Tamil song.
Wish you all a happy and prosperous Onam.
