Hrudayashakhi - Alphonse'ji Vintage

Today I am presenting a song composed by a promising music director in the Malayalam Music Industry Sri Alphonse Joseph. He is an excellent musician in the young geneartion. His first major breakthrough was through the film 'Jalotsavam' in which he composed a brilliant nostalgic song 'Keranirakaladum'. Since then he has been an indivisible part of the current trend of music.More than that he is a brilliant singer too. He seems to be a pleasing personality with good humour sense as we all are enjoying his presense as a judge in the ongoing talent show 'SuperStar' in Amrita TV.
The song is Hrudayasakhi from the film 'Vellithira' directed by Shri.Bhadran. Again this is another song which came out brilliantly in the voice of Hariharanji. This song stands out for its great composition and rendition. I like this song very much and wanted to try out this. Please let me know how you all like this.
I was happy to see the overwhelming response to the song 'Indravallari'. And this song has been accessed more than 300 times in the last 10 days. Thanks to all music lovers. I have been receiving requests to post more old songs which I will be definitely doing in the coming weeks.

Golden Oldies Part 1 - Tribute to G Devarajan

I am going to start a series on the old malayalam songs of which the first one is a tribute to our own great music director G Devarajan master who passed away recently. The golden era of malayalam music is considered to be that of G Devarajan, V Dakshinamoorthy, M S Baburaj, M.K Arjunan, K Raghavan to name a few. Devarajan master has scored music for more than three hundred Malayalam Films many dramas, twenty Tamil and four Kannada movies. Many of his compositions remain ever green classics in Malayalam. Besides, his music in the Tamil film 'Annai Velankanni' has received many accolades. Devarajan received Kerala Government's Best Music Director award for five times, among other honours.
The song I am presenting today is a classic romantic song 'Indravallari poo choodi varum'. The song is a classic composition from Devarajan master on the wonderful lyrics by the great Vayalar. In fact most of Devarajan Master's hit songs were written by Vayalar Ramavarma and the combination of Vayalar-Devarajan was synonymous with beautiful songs . This is a beautiful composition which will be there in the ears of music lovers for ever. I love this song very much and it was a pleasure singing this. This song is originally sung by our own Yesudas. Any music lover can imagine the beauty of the rendition by KJY on such a wonderful composition. I have tried my best rendering this.
I have been receieving requests to sing some fast numbers. Infact some fast numbers and songs in different moods are in pipeline.

Akale Akale from the film 'Akale'

Today I am presenting a different composition from the film 'Akale'. This is again another song composed by M Jayachandran. Human fragility is the theme of Shyamaprasad's film "Akale". Based on "Glass Menagerie", a Tennessee Williams play, "Akale" tells the story of an Anglo-Indian family in northern Kerala. Shyamaprasad is known for his unique approach towards cinema. So it is not surprising that the film is an honest transposition of "Glass Menagerie", with four characters playing out the story.

The song is 'Akale Akale' sung by young talent Karthik. I was just blown away by the brilliant rendition by Karthik. I believe this is his first Malayalam film. This is a different composition which has got a western style in it. This again proves the versatality in M Jayachandran. I couldn't resist myself from learning and trying this song when I heard it for the first time. I hope to hear back from all of you. I once again request all music lovers to give me feedback and have constructive critisism by leaving comments. This will definitely help to improve my singing.

Kannil Nin Meyyil - Tribute to P Padmarajan

Today I am presenting a song composed by Shri Perumbavoor G Raveendranath, who is also my Guru.He doesn't need any introduction to malayalam music lovers. His contributions to the light music world are matchless. He stepped into the world of film music by composing songs in 'Thoovananthumbikal' directed by Shri.Padmarajan.He started off with a couple of superb hits like 'Onnam Raagam Paadi' and 'Megham Poothu Thudangi'.Although there are very less number of films in his name, most of his compositions were super hits.Films like Innale, Sneham, Chitrashalabham, Alancheri Thambrakkal,Thandavam etc gave us some beautiful songs. I would say that Malayalam Film Industry has not done justice to this great musician. At times I think how many hits like 'Onnam Raagam Paadi' we might have missed out. Some of his brilliant compositons are 'Neela Nadiyude', 'Prapancha Manasa','Akhilum Chandanavum' when it comes to light music world. He has a very strong classical background and still work hard to learn new Krithis and teach strudents like me and lot of others. He has composed over 15000 songs in different categories such as Light Music,Devotional Songs,Film Songs etc. I have the privilege of being close to him as a student.I had the fortune to listen to his concerts at my native place during my school days and accompany him as support vocal in a few concerts being his student in the recent times. As a human being he is very humble and caring. There is a lot left in this genius.
The song I am presenting today is from the Film 'Innale'. This is directed by the great director Shri P.Padmarajan. In fact Padmarajan brought Perumbavoor into the world of film music. According to Perumbavoor Sir, Padmarajan was one of the directors who have given importance to the songs in his films and comfortable to work with. Innale is one of the greatest films that Malayalam film industry ever had. Padmarajan portrays the life and trauma of a beautiful girl who develops amnesia after a bus accident during a pilgrimage trip. Anyone who have seen this film will understnad the beauty of this composition. The mood change in anupallavi is just amazing in this song. Perumbavoor G Ravindranath was awarded the State Film Award for best music director for the songs in this film. K.S Chitra was awarded the Kerala State Fim award for the best play back singer. The other song in this film is 'Nee Vin Poo' which is done in 'Atana' raaga. I have tried my best to do justice to the original version.
