Vennilave Vennilave - Another A R Rehman Classic
Presenting another A R Rehman magic from the superhit movie 'Minsaara Kanavu' directed by Shri.Rajiv Menon.Later this was dubbed into Hindi and released under the name of 'Sapnay'. It is generally a sweet genial little film in which the wonderful songs, the joyful choreography and the strong performances more than make-up for a somewhat flat if accessible narrative. The palette that Menon uses is sparkling bright and colorful and this suffuses into the mood of the film and the musical sequences. The film is an odd mix of the conventional and the unconventional as the viewer thinks he knows exactly where the plot is heading during much of the running time but in a surprising twist it takes you out of your comfort zone and makes you feel almost disoriented.
The song which we present here today is 'Vennilave Vennilave' composed by our own great A R Rehman on the lyrics of Vairamuthu. This is a superhit song originally sung by Hariharan and Sadhna Sargam. Meera Manohar sung this along with me. Meera is again a great talent I met through the blogging world who has an amazing musical sense. It was really a challenge singing this especially on the high notes. We have tried our best to do justice to the wonderful rendition. Please let us know how you all like this one.

Murali, very, very good attempt!! You sound great in the high notes!
But there's a slight difference in the volume/ recording quality in those lines, though ur singing is brilliant :)
Like Arun has pointed out, Hariharan's 'harkathein' (the exclamations like hei etc) could have been done slightly more carefully tho'...

It was nice to hear Meera too in this... nice sangathis!
Just noticed one difference in the way u both have sung from the original- in 'ettadha uyaratthil' and 'kaiyyoda sikkamal', Hariharan and Sadhana go higher- they go uptil Pa :)

Oops- the 'different recording/volume' I said is only in 'penne penne'. In the lines that follow, the echo/ chorus effect is great!
And wish Sadhana's voice dint come in the karaoke track in the humming in the end- it doesnt blend...should have been Meera instead... :)

Hi Murali,
An outstanding rendition, minus the falsettos that were obvious in the original! Meera also was excellent, except in the beginning few seconds when she sounded a bit tentative and lacking that spark. Once she got into the charanam, it was just fine.
Superb opening to 2007, wish you and Meera a wonderful year ahead.
