Presenting another beautiful song composed by Ouseppachan. This song is from the film Ulladakkam directed by Shri.Kamal. Ulladakkam was a super hit movie where Mohanlal plays the main role. He is an actor who has won accolades from both the commercial and parallel film industry. Having acted in more than 270 movies, most of them in Malayalam, he is rated as one of the most talented & complete actors in the present day Indian film industry. Vennilave Vennilave - Another A R Rehman Classic

Presenting another A R Rehman magic from the superhit movie 'Minsaara Kanavu' directed by Shri.Rajiv Menon.Later this was dubbed into Hindi and released under the name of 'Sapnay'. It is generally a sweet genial little film in which the wonderful songs, the joyful choreography and the strong performances more than make-up for a somewhat flat if accessible narrative. The palette that Menon uses is sparkling bright and colorful and this suffuses into the mood of the film and the musical sequences. The film is an odd mix of the conventional and the unconventional as the viewer thinks he knows exactly where the plot is heading during much of the running time but in a surprising twist it takes you out of your comfort zone and makes you feel almost disoriented.

The song which we present here today is 'Vennilave Vennilave' composed by our own great A R Rehman on the lyrics of Vairamuthu. This is a superhit song originally sung by Hariharan and Sadhna Sargam. Meera Manohar sung this along with me. Meera is again a great talent I met through the blogging world who has an amazing musical sense. Sruthiyil Ninnuyarum - Shyam Vintage

Samuel Joseph, alias Shyam, worked as a violinist for some of the top music composers before making starting out on his own. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Shyam stepped into Malayalam at a time when the industry was dominated by some of the greatest music makers in the language. Yet Shyam went ahead undeterred to compose music for over 200 films and some immortal hits in the language. He was fortunate that his very first film `Manyashree Viswamithran,' was a bit hit and the songs also got noticed. The film that really made people sit up and notice this music director was `Njaval Pazhangal.' The song `Karu karuthoru... ' written by Mullanezhi and immaculately rendered by K. J. Jesudas would surely find a place among the best in Malayalam. Other haunting melodies by this brilliant music director are `Thozhuthu madangum,' `Devatharu poothu ' `Sruthiyil ninnuyarum,' `Mynaagam ,' to name a few.

The song I am presenting here is 'Sruthiyil Ninnuyarum' from the film 'Thrishna'. This is one of the greatest melodies malayalam music industry ever had. This is a superb composition in 'Yamuna Kalyani' raaga by Shyam on the brilliant lyrics of Shri.Bichu Thirumala. This song is originally in the golden voice of Shri.K J Yesudas. I have tried my best to do justice to his wonderful rendition. Wonderful rendition of this song by Shri.Pradip Somasundaran in our class room when I was a student of him during my graduation is still there in my ears :).

Golden Oldies Part II - Ilavannoor Madathile

Today I am presenting the next song in the Golden Oldies series. This song is a superhit from Bhaskaran Master-Devarajan team. Shri P. Bhaskaran is a Malayalam poet, lyricist and occasional director in Malayalam movies. Bhaskaran Master has also made invaluable contribution to Malayalam cinema as producer, director and actor.Since the early 1950s he has directed some 50 movies.He is one of those lyricist who has an amazing musical sense. P Bhaskaran started as a lyricist for the film Chandrika and made his directorial debut with Ramu Karyat as a co-director and an actor in Neelakuyil. He attempted hard-hitting realism in his earlier films but later works were mainly love stories and melodramas with social concerns. Some of his memorable films are Rarichan Enna Pauran (1956), set in the neo-realistic vein of Newspaper Boy, Anveshichu Kandethiyilla (1967) and Irutinte Atmavu (1967).Infact lyricists like Vayalar, P Bhaskaran, Sreekumaran Thampi were an indivisble part of the golden times of malayalam music.
