Oh Vennila - another A R Rehman magic

Yet another song from my all time favourite ARR. Whenever I started hearing his songs right from Roja I was always amazed at the perfection that he brings in each of his songs. Apart from the fact that he was the blessed son of the gifted father R K Sekhar there are few other elements that makes him unique. First of all the he had very strong foundation in classical music. And he was fortunate enough to work with two of the musical Gods, Sri M S Viswanathan and Illayaraja. And he brought the right balance in mixing soulful music with technology. I would say he has made a revolution through electronic music production in the industry. Yes...he is a true genius.
The song I am presenting here is 'Oh Vennila' from the film 'Kadhal Desam' originally sung by P Unnikrishnan, now a days popularly knows as 'Unniyettan'. He is one of the wonderful musicians I have ever heard. I have not used a karaoke track for this. Its just song with the sruthi. . Let me know how you like it.

This is one of my all time favorites. And this is a song tailor made for your voice ! Your rendition is very much in line with Unni with your own sangathis mildly peppered. Enjoyed it fully. The only negative is your imbibing the bad pronunication of UK in a few places (Oh naNbanE, naNban andhap poovai koydhaan)
I also recommend you join muziboo. There are many good singers (Tara, Adithi to name a couple) there with whom you can interact.

Hi Murali
Excellent rendition! Reminded me of my college days when this used to be my favorite song!
The sangathis are relishable and you have cleverly resisted from giving an overdose of the same to preserve the flavour of the song.
My only humble suggestion would be to consciously try and avoid the Malayalam effect when singing Tamil songs.
Do treat us very often with such beautiful melodies!

Hi Murali,
Very awesome rendition. Felt like the original one.
I recently stumbled upon your blog. It is really very nice.
I have few questions, as I started my audio blog. About mixing the tracks. Would you give me few suggestions to mix vocals with tracks? This is small attempt. If you could take time in looking my blog and give some comments, it will be my pleasure.
Thank you in advance
