Oh Vennila - another A R Rehman magic

Yet another song from my all time favourite ARR. Whenever I started hearing his songs right from Roja I was always amazed at the perfection that he brings in each of his songs. Apart from the fact that he was the blessed son of the gifted father R K Sekhar there are few other elements that makes him unique. First of all the he had very strong foundation in classical music. And he was fortunate enough to work with two of the musical Gods, Sri M S Viswanathan and Illayaraja. And he brought the right balance in mixing soulful music with technology. I would say he has made a revolution through electronic music production in the industry. Yes...he is a true genius.
The song I am presenting here is 'Oh Vennila' from the film 'Kadhal Desam' originally sung by P Unnikrishnan, now a days popularly knows as 'Unniyettan'. He is one of the wonderful musicians I have ever heard. I have not used a karaoke track for this. Its just song with the sruthi. . Let me know how you like it.

Sruthiyamma - Vidyasagar Strikes

Vidyasagar was born to a family of musicians in Chennai. His father U. Ramachander was a musician who could play eight instruments and his grandfather Varaha Narasimha Murthy was the court 'Vidhwan' for the king of Vijayanagaram Bobili in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Vidyasagar started learning vocal classical music and harmonium from his father at the age of four. From 1996 to 2001 Vidyasagar mainly concentrated on Malayalam films where he became the top music director. In Malayalam right from his first film "Azhagiya Ravanan" to "Meesa Madhavan" he struck the right cord. He has created scores in which ragas and rhythms combined to a good melody, which even bagged him four Kerala State Awards. Vidyasagar's love for melody has made him turn to Malayalam film industry time and again, and the songs in hit films like Azhagiya Ravanan, Meesa Madhavan, Gramaphone, CID Moosa and Kilichundan Mambazham were all well received.
The song I am presenting here is 'Sruthiyamma' from the film "Madhuranombarakkattu" released in 2000. The songs in this film are of vey high standards. Another beautiful song in this movie is 'Dwadashiyil' which is composed in the raaga 'Hindolam'.This is again recorded long back. There are many songs with me which I recorded, but again when I hear them make me say 'hey.....you could have done this better'. This stops me from publishing them on the blog. Still I have not started recording for blog again. Thought of updating the blog with some of the old recordings I have. Let me know how you like it.
